These carved pencil leads are amazing. The detailed miniature statues are by Brazilian artist Dalton Ghetti who also works as a carpenter. What skill and patience must be involved in creating such detailed and beautiful carvings.

Stunning hand drawn wallpaper from Camilla Meijer. The detail is amazing and the colourways modern and uplifting.

The last few years I have found 100% Design rather dull but I still go as I feel like I am missing out if I don't. Whilst most of what is there I have seen before it is always useful to see what the recurring trend is in products and look out for new ones. It has been on the cards for a while but there were real signs of it taking off at 100%. Coloured bathroom fittings with black being predominant and very much a sign of where our interior style will go in the next few years. Whilst I did like some I can't help but feel this is a trend that we will look back on in the same way we do at avocado suites! But for now coloured fittings look pretty cool. Although I draw the line on coloured traditional style fittings which I saw yesterday. I think this is one look that needs to be kept to ultra modern clean lined pieces.

Another find was the gorgeous stools and drawer units from Sixay Furniture. The drawer unit isn't cheap but as it is made out of 6 types of wood and the finish is amazing I think its worth the price. The otto stools were rather lovely too.

We are in need of a storage/shelving solution at home for our hundred's of book and ridiculous amount of magazines that is ever growing. Up until now I have always fancied the 606 System by Dieter Rams for Vitsoe (second picture). I am now leaning towards the string shelving system as I think it is a much simpler, cleaner and pure design. I also love that it comes in a variety of finishes and colours. The 'String' was designed in 1949 by Swedish architect Nils Strinning. Its simplicity is what really appeals to me and like the 606, its ability to evolve. The string is very very similar to the Tomado shelving system from Holland (first picture)another modular design that I really like.

What a lovely light from Penelope Batley. A surreal design that is in my opinion rather fabulous! Wonderfully playful, she experiments with scale and proportion resulting in great designs like this.

Lovely, lovely wallpapers

For our own home I am starting to move away from wanting to use wallpaper after using it for the last five years but I still absolutely love it and I often specify some wonderful wallpapers. There are amazing designs out there and so many make my mouth water and make me feel deliriously happy. Here is a selection of some I love.

1 / Pigeons from thornbackandpeel
2 / Petsounds from Minimoderns
3 / Red buses and Black cabs by Lizzie Allen
4 / Dotty by Ferm Living (this was the main contender for our front room recently)
5 / TOPO AZUL from Pattern Tales
6 / Time for tea by Dupenny
7 / Ciutat from trestintas

I am sure that the work of Charlotte Mann is familiar to most people but I have only just discovered her amazing work. Charlotte is known for her gorgeous wall drawings that are made at a scale of 1.1. Her work really makes you look twice and I think is very much a modern take on trompe l'oeil. Trompe l'oeil (trick of the eye) was given its name in the Baroque period but it goes back as far as the Roman and Greek times. Extremely realistic paintings work by creating an optical illusion that make them appear in 3D and can be used to make a room appear larger than it is. This can be done for instance by depicting a doorway or a window with scenes beyond and playing around with perspective.

The detail of Charlotte's work, which is usually created on a white background with a black marker, really creates space or the idea of space. How amazing would it be to commission her to create something amazing in your home!

I adore these giant letters from Hindsvik Shop a fab online store based in Canada full of fabulous vintageware. The good news is that they ship worldwide so come the next pay cheque I shall be ordering one for our hall.

I like this prototype shade by Phil Cuttance. A design that is inspired by pop-up book patterns results in this fabulously complicated shape made from polypropylene. I hope this goes into production as it would make a great statement shade. The design makes me wish I was two inches high so I could climb in and explore.

I have had my eye on the desk in the top picture by P Frey & M Boge for quite a few years now but it is just too expensive. It will have to stay on my wish list for now and I will make do with my IKEA table which you can just see in the above picture. Actually it is perfect. Simple, sturdy design that was under £100 and gives me plenty of room and works well with my Alex drawers also from IKEA (above) They are very popular with designers etc. as they are a very cheap alternative to plan drawers which cost a fortune and look lovely (minus the castors).

Should you have a spare few thousand to spend on your work desk then the Kant desk is available from Twentytwentyone in white laminate (the cheapest option) or black, blue, red linoleum.

Here is a project I designed taken from the management company's website who implemented it and were responsible for the back of house layout and construction. A design solution was needed for a veterinary surgery that is intended to be a chain so required strong branding values that stands out from other high street vets. The site is in Kettering with many more to come.

It has been a few years now since I discovered Molo's gorgeous room dividers but I was reminded of them again recently and thought they were worth a mention. The softwall is a non-woven polyethylene material wall that is also available as a modular system. It is tear proof and has the appearance of paper. It is fully flexible and expands and contracts to any shape. Fantastic for screening areas for privacy and making new space out of existing space without resulting to permanent solutions. Available in opaque or translucent versions, the softwall allows light into the new space and it also has sound dampening properties. When not in use it folds away neatly and can be tucked away. It is also now available with integrated LED lighting turning it into a beautiful light source. They have other paper products such as lighting and seating. They also have a paper wall which is a honeycombe paper structure. Worth a peek.
